In Delaware Seashore State Park, kayakers can navigate shallow bays and channels, observing coastal flora and fauna such as marsh grasses, diamondback terrapins, and migratory birds. From your boat seat, you’ll find dynamic coastal landscapes, secluded beaches, and prime birdwatching.

It’s essential to check tide charts and weather forecasts before setting out and to be prepared for potential wind and wave conditions. Consider bringing binoculars for birdwatching and waterproof gear for beach exploration.

Fenwick Island

Fenwick Island offers a peaceful paddling experience. Navigate the water to explore Little Assawoman Bay and a network of winding creeks. The environment boasts lush marsh vegetation and abundant birdlife.

If you’re a birder, you can easily check herons, egrets, and other coastal birds off your list. Some tremendous public access launching points include Holts Landing State Park and South Bethany Beach. Keep an eye on tide patterns to cruise easily at high tide.

Trap Pond State Park

Float Terrapin Branch Water Trail beneath ancient cypress groves, home to various wildlife. Turtles and beavers call the water home, making fun travel companions along your route.

You can rent kayaks from the park office or bring your own to explore the marked water trail that circles the pond.
