Five Fun Things to Do in Milton Delaware

Have you visited Milton lately? If not, you are missing out on a wonderful time! We’re really close to Rehoboth Beach, but you can also find a lot to do right here in town!  Here are five fun activities for visitors and locals:

1- A visit to the famous Dogfish Head Brewery and Distillery (https://www.dogfish.com/). Known for their fun and funky labels and beautifully crafted beers and spirits, Dogfish Head has made its home in Milton since 1995. You can take tours, tastings, eat at the restaurant, groove to live music and just enjoy the eclectic and artsy atmosphere. Check the website for event dates and closures.

2- Eco-tourists in particular will fall in love with the McCabe Nature Preserve (https://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/regions/northamerica/unitedstates/delaware/placesweprotect/edward-h-mccabe-preserve.xml). You can reach the preserve by road or canoe. It has 140 acres with miles of marked hiking trails and the chance to see over 100 different kinds of birds.

3- For a special treat, try an Evening Cruise on the Broadkill River (https://www.capewatertaxi.com/services/sunset-cruise.html). A 90 minute cruise on the river will allow you to see the Broadkill and the Primehook Wildlife Reserve. The soft bay breezes will put you in a relaxed mood. The departure time will depend on sunset, so check the site for booking times.

4- Lavender lovers rejoice! On your visit to Milton, you will not want to miss the Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor (http://lavenderfieldsde.com/). You can walk through the actual fields of lavender, tour the gardens, navigate the labyrinth and shop for lavender plants, dried lavender, beautifully handcrafted items and locally produced soaps, lotions, essential oils and  even lavender honey!

5- For the historically-minded among us, the Milton Historical Society (http://www.historicmilton.org) puts on different kinds of walking tours, educational presentations, and craft classes. They also operate a museum all about the Broadkill Hundred and Milton’s long history.

So, whether you’re in the mood for nature, brews or education, you will find a great activity in Milton!
