Walking Guide to 2nd Street Shopping in Lewes DE

Here at the beach as summer falls into autumn, the weather cools down and the crowds begin to disappear, which creates a special time to shop in downtown Lewes. This quaint beach town, just 15-20 minutes from our Mansion Farm Inn, offers plenty of places to peruse. Take along this walking guide to 2nd Street shopping in Lewes, DE and discover everything from pet supplies and sweet treats to beach decor and trendy threads.

Located at the corner of 2nd Street and Savannah Road, the epicenter of Lewes Beach activity, are two must-try restaurants where you can fuel up before or wind down after a day of shopping. On the north side, Touch of Italy is a locally-owned, authentic Italian restaurant that features fantastic wood-oven-fired pizza, homemade pasta, fine wine, and more. On the southwest corner is Bramble & Brine at the Buttery, the fourth local dining establishment by Restaurateur and Owner, Megan Kee. Bramble’s plates are as beautiful as they are delicious.

As you head up the northeast side of 2nd Street, you’ll encounter a series of clothing boutiques. Cute onesies hang in the window of Fairy Godmother, where you’ll find little treasures made for a prince and princess. Blooming Boutique sprouts clusters of unique fashions, shoes, and jewelry for women of all ages.

Basket full of colorful antique bowls

Next, a wrought iron gate beckons you into Lewes Mercantile Antiques, full of one-of-a-kind curiosities and historic pieces and collectibles.

A couple doors down, the scent of chocolate will lure you into Edie Bee’s Confection Shop where shelves and canisters of colorful candy creations are available. Imagine gourmet truffles, dark chocolate cayenne morsels, and sea salt caramel marshmallows…

Khalsa Jewelers, an elegant jewelry store on the corner, is the perfect place to buy that long-awaited anniversary gift or engagement ring.

Tucked in down Neil’s Alley quietly sits Nectar Cafe & Juice Bar. Here you can explore fresh juices, fluffy French toast, and creamy lattes.

On the corner of 2nd and Bank Streets is Half Full. Stop in to refuel with a glass of red wine and a piece of artisan pizza. You will not be disappointed. Or head further down Bank Street to Kindle restaurant, home to seasonal American fare with a bit of French influence and a fine wine selection.

Continue walking up 2nd Street until you’re standing in front of Agave, the creme de la creme of delicious food! They make their margaritas with fresh fruit and quality tequila, so you’ll always be satisfied.

Row of waffle cones with different colored ice cream

Or, perhaps a waffle cone with two scoops of homemade ice cream at King’s is more to your liking. King’s Ice Cream is nestled between two alleyways where more shops and indulgent restaurants await to be explored.

Southwest Side of 2nd Street

Cross the street and head down 2nd Street on the other side, where you can get in touch with your inner child at Kid’s Ketch. Games, puzzles, and toys fill every inch of this space.

A super tiny but ultra-chic boutique, Gypsy Teal hides just next door, followed quickly by Mayumi Flower Shop, filled to the brim with lush green foliage and beautiful flower arrangements.

Cappuccino and two croissasnts

Notting Hill Coffee Roastery will tempt you with the rich smells of coffee and pastries, so pop in for an espresso and muffin.

You’re going to pass by another boutique, followed by Lewes Gifts, a shop full of fun and quirky beach decor. Score a martini tumbler, opulent wine decanter, and cute starfish wine stopper in here. Wrap up this side of bustling 2nd Street at Treasures, another fine clothing boutique.

THe inn in 2020

Lewes has a plethora of options to empty your wallet and fill your soul. But keep in mind, it’s not all on 2nd Street. Make sure you meander down the short alleyways to find more amazing shopping experiences. And wrap up your walking tour with Front Street’s gorgeous view of the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal. Once you’re fully spent with a full belly and tired feet, make the short drive back to your comfy guest room at Mansion Farm Inn for a relaxing evening and restful night’s sleep.
